Dragonfly partner says ZEC development fund should not be extended past 2028

Haseeb Qureshi, managing partner at crypto venture firm Dragonfly Capital, argued the Zcash development fund, which is set to expire in 2028 under current rules, should not be extended further. According to Cointelegraph, Qureshi said the fund, which has grown to about $95 million, is sufficient to support the remaining development work and warned that a larger pool of capital could become increasingly politicized.
Paradigm founder Matt Huang, meanwhile, argued the development fund should be maintained to address AI-driven cyberattacks and advances in quantum computing. The industry debate extends beyond whether to keep the fund, with discussions also centered on whether governance should be handed directly to token holders through voting or managed through a hybrid structure combining a separate committee with token-holder input.
