Vietnam plans to issue its first licenses for crypto service providers in 2026 under a pilot regulatory framework, allowing digital asset platforms to operate.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance and the State Securities Commission said they are preparing a supervisory framework focused on oversight of service providers, protection of investor assets and anti-money laundering measures, drawing on recommendations from the Financial Action Task Force and the European Union’s regulatory model. The ministry also said it recently met with Austria’s Financial Market Authority to share supervisory experience on emerging assets including cryptocurrencies, while the two sides plan to pursue cooperation through the International Organization of Securities Commissions and hold technical meetings among experts.
