South Korean PPP floor leader warns crypto tax plan may overlook young investors

September 21, 2026, 5:45 AM
South Korean People Power Party floor leader Jung Jeom-sik said a fair and accurate digital-asset tax regime may not be ready with only a few months left before implementation, warning that moving ahead without sufficient preparation while overlooking young people’s realities would ultimately hurt young investors. Speaking at a policy meeting on improving the digital-asset taxation system at the National Assembly on Sept. 21, Jung said the party would review what needs to be revisited, including the timing of taxation, and what should be supplemented to ensure reasonable taxation. Im Yi-ja, policy committee chair of the People Power Party, also stressed that an unprepared tax rollout should not go ahead.
