BTC jumps 44% in Q3, outpacing gold and the Nasdaq

September 21, 2026, 11:47 AM
Bitcoin has risen about 44% in the third quarter, marking its strongest quarterly performance since the fourth quarter of 2024, CoinDesk analyzed. Over the same period, gold gained 8.7%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq each rose 2%, pointing to diverging market trends. CoinDesk said BTC looks markedly different from earlier this year, when it underperformed relative to stocks as equity markets rallied on enthusiasm for artificial intelligence investment. In the third quarter, however, BTC posted standout gains even against major stock names, with its advance outpacing Nvidia’s 11% rise. The outlet added it believes BTC has already entered a bull market, while cautioning that the possibility of a sudden correction cannot be ruled out. It said investors should remain cautious until signals showing a full-fledged bullish reversal become clearer.
