XRPL validators back Sept. 29 activation of BatchV1_1 security fix

XRPL validators have begun a conditional process to activate BatchV1_1, a fix for a critical signature authorization flaw in the ledger’s original Batch feature, CryptoSlate reported. As of Sept. 22, 30 of 35 trusted validators had voted in favor, above the 80% threshold, and the amendment is scheduled to activate at 2:06:41 p.m. UTC on Sept. 29 if that support holds. The original Batch feature was found to contain a flaw that could cause validation to end early after detecting a signature that met certain conditions while checking approved batch accounts. If exploited by an attacker, transactions could potentially have been executed without a victim’s signature, but the feature was blocked before it was activated on mainnet. XRPL later developed BatchV1_1 with new authentication logic and additional safeguards.
