Former Hack VC partner found dead after alleging pressure at the firm

Hsin-Ju Chuang, a former partner at crypto fund manager Hack VC, was found dead near an Interstate 15 access road in California’s Mojave Desert on Aug. 24, Wu Blockchain reported. Chuang was 37, and local investigators are examining the exact cause of death. In a post published days before the death, Chuang said that while at Hack VC, Chuang suffered from severe hyperthyroidism caused by Graves’ disease, as well as insomnia. Chuang also alleged that despite those health issues, partners at the firm pressured Chuang by saying Chuang would be pushed out of the industry, and that Chuang had to continue handling an intensive workload and preparing for events related to Korea Blockchain Week, or KBW. Chuang had previously said Chuang rejected a pending settlement with the company that included private mediation and a nondisclosure agreement, and planned to release evidence related to the dispute on Aug. 26. No link between the death and the dispute with the company has been confirmed.
