Tether co-founder says next-gen stablecoins need on-chain reserve transparency
September 23, 2026, 9:19 AM
Reeve Collins, a Tether co-founder involved in USDT’s development, said in an interview with Wu Blockchain that the next generation of stablecoins will evolve into “stablecoin 2.0.”
Collins said reserve assets will be disclosed with full on-chain transparency, while the stablecoin itself will be separated from its revenue model. He added that programming features will enable more sophisticated distribution of returns to participants such as liquidity providers. Collins also said blockchain and stablecoins will become core infrastructure supporting real-time settlement of global funds as AI reshapes the financial industry.
