Bitget CEO says hack resembles North Korea-linked tactics, cold wallets remain safe

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said during a live broadcast on Sept. 25 that, 12 hours after the recent security incident, the affected assets included ETH, XRP, BNB, AVAX, USDT and USDC, with the largest losses among individual blockchains occurring on the XRP Ledger. Chen said the affected networks were Ethereum, XRP Ledger, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, BSC and Base, while cold wallets across all networks remained safe. Bitget contacted the relevant blockchain foundations immediately after the hack, and some foundations have confirmed steps to freeze hacker addresses, Chen said. Based on analysis of IP activity and on-chain data, the attack method closely resembled existing patterns associated with a North Korea-linked hacking group, and Bitget has reported the case to relevant authorities and is cooperating with an international investigation, Chen added.
