Van de Poppe calls Dutch plan to tax unrealized crypto gains at 36% disastrous

Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe criticized the Dutch government’s plan to apply a 36% tax rate to unrealized gains on cryptocurrencies including BTC starting Jan. 1, 2028, calling it a disastrous decision. In a post on X, van de Poppe said, "2028년 1월 1일부터 BTC 등 암호화폐의 미실현 이익에 36%의 세금을 부과하고, 이 제도를 최소 2년간 적용하려 한다." According to the Dutch government’s website, the related bill passed the lower house in February and is still awaiting Senate deliberation. The government is targeting implementation on Jan. 1, 2028, and is also reviewing partial revisions to the bill.
