CRS says Congress can set clearer rules for banks’ crypto activities

The Congressional Research Service said Congress could use legislation to more clearly define the scope of permitted bank activities involving Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin.com reported. CRS said federal regulators’ approach to banks’ crypto-related business has shifted with agency leadership and policy direction, and Congress can decide by law whether specific activities should be allowed or restricted.
