Only 10% of U.S. congressional staff see crypto tax bill passing this year

Most U.S. congressional staffers see little chance of a digital asset tax bill passing this year, with only 10% expecting crypto tax legislation to clear Congress by Dec. 31, 2026, according to a Punchbowl News survey. The outlook reflects a view that crypto-related legislation has slipped down the priority list amid the post-election schedule. Senator Cynthia Lummis, a prominent crypto-friendly lawmaker, also expressed skepticism about passage this year. Earlier, the House Ways and Means Committee approved the Digital Asset Tax Clarity Act (H.R. 10357) in September by a 38-5 vote.
