Ethereum tests 200M block gas limit on Sepolia for Glamsterdam
October 06, 2026, 4:57 AM
Ethereum’s next major upgrade, Glamsterdam, is being tested on the Sepolia testnet today with the block gas limit raised more than threefold to 200 million from around 60 million, CoinDesk reported.
Ahead of the test, Prysm, a major Ethereum validator client, released an emergency update to make validators automatically produce blocks with a 200 million gas limit. The test is intended to check whether validators can handle the sharply expanded block capacity stably, while the scale of any eventual mainnet rollout has not yet been decided.
