Ethereum researcher warns AI threat to private keys could emerge within months

Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake warned the cryptocurrency industry should start planning for a "bunker mode" response, as AI-driven recovery of private keys from ECDSA public keys could become possible within months rather than years, according to The Block. Drake recommended gradually moving assets to new addresses that have never signed a transaction, so the public key remains hidden behind its hash and is not exposed. He also stressed there was no need to rush, adding that poorly organized asset transfers could cause even greater losses.
