Vitalik warns AI could threaten even quantum-resistant cryptography

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin warned that advances in AI could render existing cryptographic systems obsolete sooner than expected, adding that even lattice-based cryptography, often seen as quantum-resistant, may not be safe. Buterin also stressed there is no need to rush to move assets to other wallets immediately.
In a post on X, Buterin said, "AI가 2년 안에 50년치 수학적 진전을 이뤄낸다면 타원곡선뿐 아니라 격자 기반 암호도 현재 예상보다 훨씬 쉽게 뚫릴 수 있다.
Earlier, Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake had advised gradually moving assets to fresh unused addresses, saying the point at which AI could derive private keys from ECDSA public keys may arrive within months.
