Hashed Open Research says South Korea is underusing digital asset market potential

Hashed Open Research, a think tank under South Korean crypto and blockchain venture capital firm Hashed, published a report on Oct. 8 comparing digital asset policies across five major jurisdictions: the U.S., the European Union, Japan, China and South Korea.
The report described South Korea as being in a state of high capability but low conversion, saying the country has world-class IT infrastructure and a competitive content industry base but has not sufficiently translated those strengths into institutional competitiveness in the digital asset industry. It added that despite strong technological and industrial capacity, slow interagency policy coordination and regulatory formalization have limited the market’s ability to realize its full potential.
As a key task for South Korea, the report pointed to building an execution framework that links policy and the market so pilot projects and regulatory improvements can lead to actual commercialization.
