Bitcoin fell below $84,000 in a short period, and increased high-leverage short positions, spot ETF outflows, long liquidations and transfers of BTC held by the U.S. government likely added to the downward pressure, according to ABM Crypto.
The outlet said four newly created addresses deposited a combined 1 million USDC into Hyperliquid and then opened a 40x leveraged short position worth 148.49 BTC, or $12.5 million. As BTC then plunged sharply, concerns were raised about possible prior knowledge, though no actual link was confirmed. Over the same period, addresses tied to the U.S. government moved 834 BTC, worth $71.56 million, and 40,285 BNB, worth $31.63 million. The BTC was deposited into Coinbase Prime, ABM Crypto said. The outlet added that if BTC fails to quickly recover the $85,000 support level, the correction could extend to below $80,000.
