Trump says U.S., Iran hold productive talks, no strike planned before Nov. 3 midterms

President Donald Trump said on Oct. 9 the U.S. is engaged in productive talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Trump said Iran is in a very weak economic and military position, while a full blockade remains in place and record volumes of oil are still flowing through the Strait of Hormuz. He added that 22 million barrels passed through the waterway last night and not a single barrel either came from Iran or was headed there. Trump also said the U.S. will not attack Iran before the Nov. 3 midterm elections and added that Iran will not obtain nuclear weapons.
