Bank of England Deputy Governor Sarah Breeden said there is no need to rush the introduction of a digital pound, a central bank digital currency for the general public, Bloomberg reported. Speaking at an event linked to the International Monetary Fund’s annual meeting in Bangkok, Breeden said innovation in digital payments is advancing rapidly and explained that whether to introduce a digital pound depends on whether the benefits of tokenization and financial innovation can be achieved through other means.
