Coinbase cooperates with UK, U.S. agencies in crackdown on West Africa-based scam rings

Coinbase said on its official website it cooperated with UK and U.S. law enforcement agencies in a crackdown on scam rings based in West Africa. Coinbase said it worked with the UK’s National Crime Agency, the U.S. Justice Department’s Scam Center Strike Force, and the Tech Against Scams coalition during an international joint anti-fraud operation held in London from Oct. 6 to Oct. 9. Coinbase said some criminal groups are shifting their operations to West Africa and other regions as crackdowns on scam hubs in Southeast Asia intensify.
