Binance hacker stole $2.5B with $15 fee, reportedly exploiting Ethereum EIP-7702

A Binance hacker stole about $2.5 billion worth of cryptocurrency in a single transaction while paying only about $15 in network fees, Cointelegraph reported, citing Bloomberg. The attack is said to have used a feature introduced through Ethereum’s EIP-7702 upgrade, which lets standard wallets temporarily use smart-contract functionality. It has not been confirmed, however, whether a security flaw in that feature itself caused the hack.
