Russia proposes tighter AML oversight and crypto transaction tracking

November 06, 2026, 10:35 AM
Russia’s Investigative Committee has proposed bringing cryptocurrencies further into anti-money laundering regulations and strengthening transaction tracking, TASS reported. At a UN Convention Against Corruption asset recovery working group meeting in Vienna, committee representatives said crypto transactions can be tracked through a dedicated system run by Russia’s Federal Financial Monitoring Service, allowing authorities to secure evidence needed for criminal investigations. The committee also stressed the importance of international judicial cooperation and said it had seized and confiscated more than $486 million in corruption-related assets by 2026 in coordination with financial intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
