Dollar's share of global payments hit record 51.1% in March

The U.S. dollar's share of international payments reached a record high of 51.1% in March amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, according to the latest data from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT). This represents a significant increase from 49.2% in the previous month and is the highest level recorded since 2023. The euro followed with a share of approximately 21%, with the British pound and Japanese yen trailing behind.
