South Korea's FSI reveals latest crypto exchange hacking techniques
September 17, 2025, 12:21 AM
South Korea's Financial Security Institute (FSI) has disclosed the latest attack methods used in recent hacks of overseas cryptocurrency exchanges, Edaily reported. According to the FSI, hackers have recently used pretexting methods, such as impersonating recruiters, to install malware on the computers of exchange employees. They then exploit supply chain vulnerabilities to infiltrate internal systems, ultimately stealing assets by inducing employees to approve blind signatures. The stolen funds are subsequently laundered through mixer protocols like Tornado Cash before being exchanged for non-freezable coins and cashed out.
