STX Token Debuts on Korean Exchange Bithumb

STX, the native token of the Stacks network, made its debut on the KRW market of Bithumb, a renowned Korean cryptocurrency exchange, at noon (Korea Standard Time) on Tuesday. The listing price is 828.5 KRW per unit.

Bitcoin scalability solution

Stacks is a Bitcoin scalability solution that addresses the challenge of transaction latency through the use of microblocks. It utilizes the programming language Clarity and benefits from the security of Bitcoin by employing its unique consensus algorithm called Proof of Transfer (PoX). This mechanism enables Stacks to settle transactions on the Bitcoin network.

Stacks is one of the most anticipated projects associated with Bitcoin, and its token was approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2019.

 

STX token usage

The STX token serves multiple purposes within the Stacks blockchain ecosystem. Users can utilize it for stacking, participating in governance activities, and paying transaction fees.

The starting price for this item is set at 100,000 yen, offering collectors the opportunity to acquire an NFT paired with a tangible artifact.Following this initial collection, ANA plans to release its second batch of NFTs on June 7. This collection will feature the NFT rendition of the first Boeing 787 operated by ANA, presented in the form of a 3D model airplane. The offerings include a total of 1,574 items, comprising two types of 787 models, with each item priced at 7,870 yen.ANA, a company with revenues of $12.2 billion in its previous fiscal year, aims to expand its NFT product line in the future. The airline envisions leveraging NFTs to enhance the customer experience and add value to its services.Airline industry NFT PotentialThe development of ANA Neo’s GranWhale initiative began in August of last year. The project focuses on creating a virtual travel platform that utilizes various technologies, including virtual reality (VR), to recreate destinations and cultures from around the world. These recreations take the form of metaverse parks, allowing users to explore and immerse themselves in virtual travel experiences.ANA Neo President Mitsuo Tomita emphasized the significance of this venture, stating that the ANA GranWhale logo symbolizes the fusion of the virtual and the real, signifying the airline’s journey into the future, where Web3 and metaverse travel will become increasingly prevalent. “Through this initiative, we aim to unlock the potential of NFTs in the aviation industry, bringing together the digital and physical realms to create unique and memorable experiences that unite the world in wonder,” Tomita stated.Club Toki NFTsANA is not the first Japanese airline to involve itself with the NFT space. Earlier this month, regional Japanese airline Toki Air announced the launch of Club Toki, a fan community centered around NFTs. The initiative claims that community members join by purchasing NFTs, and as NFT holders, they receive further club benefits. The NFTs can be purchased by credit card or payment in ETH, with the buyer needing a MetaMask wallet in order to receive the NFT.In March, Argentinian low-cost airline Flybondi integrated Web3 into its ticketing process by issuing tickets as NFTs in a partnership with NFT ticketing firm, TravelX. With this initiative, Flybondi became the first airline to offer flight tickets as NFTs.With its entry into the NFT marketplace, ANA joins the growing number of companies embracing Web3 technologies to offer unique digital assets and experiences. As the airline continues to develop its GranWhale platform, it seeks to cater to the evolving demands of the market and establish a presence at the intersection of aviation and the metaverse.

The gathering featured key participants, including Jin Chang-hwan, Compliance Officer of Korbit, and Yoo Jung-yeol, Head of the Digital Assets Team at Shinhan Bank as well as personnel from both organizations involved in anti-money laundering (AML) initiatives.Focus on complianceEarlier this year, Korbit and Shinhan Bank held a meeting to go over the Financial Intelligence Unit’s (FIU) comprehensive evaluation of virtual asset service providers (VASPs). This evaluation examined how well VASPs complied with the Travel Rule. Additionally, the meeting allowed both organizations to exchange ideas on how to enhance their compliance processes. In a move ahead of the industry, Korbit in September became the first Korean crypto exchange to adopt new rules for real-name bank accounts, a policy that will become mandatory in January of the following year.Oh Se-jin, Korbit’s CEO, highlighted the increasing significance of filing STRs, citing recent FIU data that showed VASPs submitted more STRs in the first three quarters of this year than in the entirety of last year. He affirmed Korbit’s dedication to establishing itself as a secure and reliable cryptocurrency exchange through ongoing collaborations with Shinhan Bank.Meanwhile, Korbit has managed to cut down the review period for STRs to a third of its previous duration. Until now, NFTs have been widely utilized in fields like art, music and entertainment due to their ability to prove individual ownership of digital assets. Starbucks’ adoption of the technology is a significant step in its implementation into daily life, which will lead to an increase in the number of real-world use cases and an acceleration in the transition to the era of Web3.To celebrate the launch of the NFT wallet, Starbucks plans to hold a promotional event where customers who use a reusable cup for one beverage ordered via the Siren Order function will receive one Eco Stamp. Up to three stamps can be collected per day. These can be exchanged for various types of NFTs, which are categorized as Basic, Creative and Artist, and each customer can only own one.Starbucks’ NFTs will be minted in collaboration with Seoul-based art platform and gallery Print Bakery (PBG) and PBG exclusive artist DADAZ, featuring images of unique cups, tumblers and more.The franchise plans to hold an offline exhibition to showcase images of the NFTs as well as its achievements in corporate sustainability at the Starbucks Jongno R store located in Jongno-gu, central Seoul, early next month.Sustainable sipsThe coffee franchise is also known for offering a complimentary beverage voucher to customers who purchase a reusable cup or tumbler. Next month, this voucher will be renamed the Eco Tumbler Beverage Coupon, which customers can exchange for a tall-sized beverage of their choice. This policy is aimed at encouraging the use of personal cups and providing tailored benefits to customers who embrace sustainable options.This new introduction was partially driven by the steady increase in the number of personal cups used at Starbucks stores around the country over the past three years. The annual number of cases has risen from 17.39 million in 2020 to 21.9 million in 2021, then 25.3 million last year.This figure has spiked significantly this year in particular, with the cumulative yearly number reaching 26.7 million last month, surpassing last year’s total. If this trend continues until the end of the year, the estimated figure is expected to be around 29.6 million, representing a 17% increase compared to 2022.This upward trend is attributed to the immediate KRW 400 discount offered to customers who participate, as well as an alternative benefit where customers can earn one “Star”, or reward point, for each purchase that they make. Until last month, the total value of benefits that were distributed via these two systems — with one Star valued at KRW 500 — exceeded KRW 12 billion. The ratio of immediate discount and Star rewards in this value stands at 30% and 70%, respectively.Green commitmentStarbucks also plans to continue its No Single-Use Cup Day campaign, a collaboration with the Korea Zero Waste Movement Network that has been ongoing for the past five years. The brand dedicates the tenth of every month as a day without single-use disposable cups, giving out merchandise like mugs, tumblers, coffee ground planting kits and stickers. Since last year, various events have been organized to celebrate the day, such as coupons gifted to customers who use reusable cups the most. Approximately one million people have participated in these promotions since the campaign’s inception in 2018.Starbucks expressed its hopes that these initiatives would act as a catalyst for positive changes in local communities by encouraging the reduction of waste.
