Bybit Leans on Innovative Tech by Launching AI-Powered Trading Assistant

Web3 & Enterprise·September 05, 2023, 1:44 AM

Dubai-headquartered cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has introduced TradeGPT, an AI-powered educational tool aimed at changing the way in which traders interact with the cryptocurrency market.

A ToolsGPT follow-up

The move follows on from the firm’s launch of ToolsGPT in June, an AI-based tool that aids platform users to generate technical analysis and takes a ChatGPT-like approach in providing responses to user queries. Vivien Fang, Head of Financial Products at Bybit, explained: “Our analysts and tech team created ToolsGPT to provide the financial education and mentorship that is sorely needed in our hyper-financialized world. Essentially, we built the tool that we all wished we had when we began our careers in financial engineering and trading.”

AI mentor and guide

For Bybit users, TradeGPT offers a multitude of benefits, including real-time market analysis, multilingual support, and personalized guidance. It functions as a mentor and guide, empowering users to comprehend market trends, formulate strategies, and select the most suitable investment products to achieve their financial goals.

This offering addresses the limitations of traditional AI systems and provides real-time market data. TradeGPT leverages Bybit’s extensive market data, trading analytics, and technical analysis tools, making it a resource for traders navigating the complexities of the cryptocurrency landscape.

Following industry trend

Bybit’s TradeGPT follows in the footsteps of Singapore-based platform Crypto.com, which unveiled its AI-enabled platform, Amy, in May. Amy leverages the technology of OpenAI’s ChatGPT to deliver real-time information about specific tokens, projects, price listings, and historical events to Crypto.com platform users.

At the time Kris Marszalek, CEO of Crypto.com, highlighted the platform’s significance, stating: “Amy is the latest example of our incredible momentum.” The company added that it followed a series of notable product launches, including CFTC-regulated options trading, on-chain staking solutions, and the GEN 3.0 Crypto.com Exchange.

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, introduced Binance Sensei in April. The company has integrated the AI-powered learning tool into Binance Academy and offers users of all skill levels an interactive chat window for guidance.

As an increasing number of cryptocurrency companies launch AI-enabled platforms, the synergy between AI and the industry becomes more apparent. AI’s data processing capabilities could address scalability issues and expedite transaction processing for cryptocurrencies.

Conversely, cryptocurrencies could incentivize research and development in the field of AI. Tokenized economies may reward contributors to AI projects, fostering collaboration and innovation. Furthermore, cryptocurrency-enabled decentralized networks could provide secure and transparent platforms for exchanging AI-generated insights without the need for intermediaries.

Digital assets are developing in real-time alongside other technologies. The introduction of Bybit’s TradeGPT, alongside Crypto.com’s Amy and Binance’s Sensei, offers a step forward in harnessing the power of AI to empower cryptocurrency traders. As these AI-driven tools continue to evolve and gain traction, they’re likely to reshape how individuals and institutions engage with the cryptocurrency market.

Swoo Pay partners with Mastercard to target Southeast Asian market

Netherlands-based mobile wallet Swoo Pay has joined forces with global financial giant Mastercard to target the Southeast Asian market, offering crypto cashback on everyday purchases. Crypto loyalty tokensThe partnership was announced via a press release published on Cointelegraph earlier this week. Through Swoo's platform, users stand to gain crypto rewards, specifically Swoo Loyalty Tokens, for each contactless payment made via the app using digitized Mastercard cards. The partnership marks yet another step forward in the convergence of traditional financial systems with the burgeoning world of cryptocurrency. It reflects a broader trend among major financial institutions and retailers, who increasingly view cryptocurrency integration as a means to revitalize loyalty programs. Once users accrue “Tokenback” in the form of Swoo Loyalty Tokens, they have the flexibility to either exchange their rewards for popular cryptocurrencies like USDT or BTC within the Swoo app or convert them into fiat currency through partnering services. As Swoo continues to refine its crypto rewards platform, it will incorporate more Web3 features, further enhancing the utility and value of loyalty tokens within its ecosystem.Photo by Markus Winkler on UnsplashTargeting emerging marketsSwoo Pay is targeting emerging markets. Alongside Southeast Asia, that also brings the Middle East region and Africa within the scope of its marketing efforts for this product offering. Emerging markets have long been seen as ideal markets within which to bring about crypto adoption more generally. The significance of this announcement wasn’t lost on Nicki Sanders, chief technology officer (CTO) with tokenized real estate enterprise, Realio. Taking to social media, Sanders cited crypto adoption as one of three main reasons as to why this partnership could be a game-changer.   Sanders feels that the nature of the offering will result in crypto adoption as daily crypto use will be boosted. In turn, that will bring digital currencies into the realm of mainstream acceptability. She also feels that the product offering will be significant in terms of financial inclusion as it’s very accessible to underserved communities. Additionally, Sanders identifies the inherent innovation as being likely to result in mass adoption. “Focusing on Android and Huawei users, Swoo Pay navigates around Google service sanctions, offering a fresh pathway to digital payments,” she claims. This partnership builds upon the success of a previous trial campaign dubbed “Super Tokenback with Mastercard.” During the three-week initiative, users enjoyed 5% Tokenback (crypto cashback) on all Mastercard purchases made through Swoo Pay. The results were positive, with over 17,000 participants conducting upwards of 128,000 transactions. Not only did this drive increase card spend, but it also introduced a wave of new consumers to the concept of crypto-backed rewards. Representatives from Swoo emphasize the seamless integration of crypto into mainstream markets, ensuring compliance with local regulations and simplifying the launch and scalability of marketing campaigns to attract new users. Conversely, officials from Mastercard underscore the company's commitment to expanding the possibilities of digital payment instruments, prioritizing convenience, technological advancement and security. They highlight the role of Swoo Pay in addressing issues with tokenized payments for Android device users, thereby broadening accessibility to these innovative financial solutions.

Viver Boosts Business Expansion with Blockchain Integration

Viver Boosts Business Expansion with Blockchain IntegrationViver, a luxury watch trading platform and subsidiary of Dunamu, which operates the Upbit cryptocurrency exchange in South Korea, is gearing up to expand its business by securing operating funds and implementing blockchain technology to enhance the transparency and security of trades.Photo by Caramel on UnsplashIn particular, designated services in which Viver plans to incorporate blockchain technology include the management of transaction history and the authentication of buyers and sellers, which can be used for watch appraisals and guarantees.“We do not plan to introduce services incorporating blockchain right away this year, but we are exploring ways to bring Dunamu’s strengths in blockchain to Viver,” the platform explained. From acquisition to nurturing growthAfter its establishment in February 2021, Viver was soon acquired by Dunamu, which injected KRW 9.5 billion (approximately $7.2 million) into the company on June 30 of that same year.Since then, the platform has been receiving continued financial support from Dunamu. It received KRW 2 billion in operating funds last year and an additional KRW 5 billion last Wednesday through board approval. In total, Viver has received approximately KRW 16.5 billion in funding from Dunamu over the past two years. “We decided to inject these operating funds to facilitate business growth,” Dunamu explained. The company also filed for trademark rights to Viver in July. This move contrasts with Dunamu’s actions in the first half of the year, where it divested its entertainment subsidiary, rrr Entertainment, for KRW 3 billion and its video production subsidiary, Knowmerce, for KRW 2.7 billion. In its first year of establishment, Viver recorded a net loss of approximately KRW 433 million, followed by a net loss of KRW 3.8 billion in 2022. While it has not yet achieved a turnaround in financial performance, the platform is facing promising outlooks as it has witnessed a substantial tenfold increase in its user base over the past year. Furthermore, since the launch of the service in August last year, the number of products directly listed by sellers as of July this year spiked nearly thirty times, with monthly trade count and transaction volume increasing almost fifteen times.Solid leadership and the beginnings of monetizationViver’s efforts to grow as a commerce service have been led by CEO Moon Jae-yeon and Chief Operating Officer Seo Hee-seon. Moon is known for his expertise in the management of commerce platforms through his experience working at eBay Korea and Coupang. Seo has similarly worked at notable companies such as BGF Retail, Interpark, eBay Korea, and 11th Street.Since Tuesday, Viver has started implementing service fees, signaling its move toward monetization. While transaction fees are still free due to an ongoing promotional event, order management fees are set at 2%, and sellers are now responsible for shipping costs.“Since our platform facilitates brokered trades, there are costs involved in order management, shipping, and our own evaluation and diagnostics processes. We have started charging fees for some of these costs so we could provide an improved trade experience,” Viver explained in regard to these changes.Viver also has its own magazine section, where it recently unveiled a special article for its 100th issue outlining its most popular and expensive high-end timepieces.

OKX Ventures invests in Web3 infrastructure startup

OKX Ventures, the investment wing of the Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange OKX, has disclosed a strategic A-round investment in Polyhedra Network. Details of the investment have been outlined through a press release published via PRNewswire on Tuesday. Specializing in the creation of Web3 infrastructure, Polyhedra Network places a premium on interoperability, scalability and privacy, leveraging advanced zero-knowledge (ZK) proof technology.Photo by Precondo CA on UnsplashInteroperability with privacyA ZK proof provides the ability for one party to cryptographically prove to another party that it possesses a certain piece of information without having to reveal the actual underlying information to the other party. Central to Polyhedra Network's product offering is its zkBridge protocol, a system facilitating trustless and efficient cross-chain infrastructure for both layer-1 and layer-2 interoperability. The protocol empowers the receiving chain to verify specific state transitions on the sending chain. This approach ensures robust security without external assumptions, effectively reducing the costs associated with on-chain verification. Polyhedra Network made an initial impact in 2023 with the launch of the "zkBridge Mainnet Alpha." That product enabled interoperability over 20 layer-1 and layer-2 blockchains, including well-known networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain and Arbitrum. Distributed proof systemThe innovative strides of Polyhedra Network, which was founded in the United States by James Zhang, Tiancheng Xie and Nikhil Shah, continued in 2023 with the introduction of deVirgo, a novel distributed proof system expediting proof generation. The deVirgo protocol also incorporates recursive proofs which trim on-chain proof verification costs associated with zkBridge. Last month, Polyhedra Network unveiled its Bitcoin messaging protocol with zkBridge, ushering trustless interoperability into the Bitcoin ecosystem through the use of ZK-proof technology. Asian backingBy championing entrepreneurs contributing to the blockchain industry's advancement, OKX Ventures is helping to build innovative companies, bringing global resources and historical experience to the forefront of blockchain projects. It is one of many Asia-centric venture firms to do so. Polyhedra has secured backing from Hong Kong’s Animoca Brands and HashKey Group, Singapore’s UOB Venture Management, NGC Ventures, Signum Capital and Foresight Ventures, alongside KuCoin Ventures. In an initial funding round in February 2023, the UC Berkeley team attracted $10 million in funding. By April, a pre-Series A round had raised a further $15 million. Dora Yue, the founder of OKX Ventures, expressed their honor in participating in the investment in Polyhedra Network's interoperability infrastructure. Yue lauded the creativity demonstrated by Polyhedra Network's team in developing advanced ZK-proof mechanisms, emphasizing the balance achieved between ZK interoperability and scalability. OKX Ventures, with an initial capital commitment of $100 million, is committed to supporting Polyhedra Network's vision of seamlessly connecting the Web2 and Web3 worlds, aiming to attract a more extensive user base to the industry. As the investment arm of the global crypto exchange platform, it dedicates itself to exploring top-tier blockchain projects on a global scale. Its focus is on fostering cutting-edge blockchain technology innovation, aspiring to support the healthy development of the global blockchain space and investing in long-term structural value.
