ToolsGPT

The newly introduced ToolsGPT by Bybit combines the machine learning capabilities of ChatGPT with the exchange’s market data, offering users a comprehensive set of features. Traders will now have access to technical analysis, price data, and metrics, all generated through AI technology. ToolsGPT will also provide personalized responses to individual inquiries, catering to the unique needs of each trader.

Bybit’s AI-powered offering is designed to provide insights and predictions for various cryptocurrency trading scenarios. By analyzing market data for multiple cryptocurrencies, ToolsGPT can identify price trends and utilize technical indicators to forecast future market movements. This service is accessible to traders of all experience levels, allowing them to make more informed decisions based on historical and real-time market data.

Bybit announced the availability of the AI-powered trading tools via a blog post published to its website on Thursday and via Twitter. Ben Zhou, CEO of Bybit, emphasized the innovative integration of ChatGPT and its role in empowering traders with advanced tools and insights. By leveraging historical and real-time market data, as well as AI-generated advice, traders can gain a comprehensive understanding of market dynamics to make better-informed decisions.

Exchange AI integrations

Bybit joins other cryptocurrency exchanges in exploring the potential of ChatGPT. Crypto.com introduced its own user assistant powered by ChatGPT, named Amy, in May. Binance also integrated OpenAI’s chatbot into its Binance Academy platform, providing users with responses sourced from a database of articles and information on the broader Web3 ecosystem.

Additionally, OKX has integrated EndoTech’s AI tools to analyze market volatility and identify trading opportunities. This move reflects the growing recognition within the cryptocurrency industry of AI’s potential to enhance trading strategies and improve overall user experiences.

Solana Labs also joined the AI revolution by launching a ChatGPT-powered plugin. This plugin enables users to check wallet balances, conduct transfers of Solana-native tokens, and trade non-fungible tokens (NFTs) seamlessly.

It’s been a busy couple of months for the company. Last month, Bybit announced the extension of its service offering to include crypto lending. Also in May, it achieved “in principle” approval from the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) in Kazakhstan to trade in the country. In April, it publicized that it had chosen Dubai as the company’s global headquarters. In an effort to further establish roots in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), earlier this month it founded a blockchain scholarship program in conjunction with the American University of Sharjah (AUS).

As the cryptocurrency industry continues to evolve, the integration of AI technology holds great promise for enabling more effective and informed trading strategies. That’s something that Bybit Advisor Anndy Lian underscored at the Brand Launchpad Event held in Vietnam last month. With Bybit’s integration of ChatGPT, traders can expect an enhanced trading experience through the use of AI-powered tools and insights.

Hitachi collaborates with Concordium on biometric crypto wallet

Hitachi collaborates with Concordium on biometric crypto walletJapan’s Hitachi Solutions, a subsidiary company of the Hitachi multinational conglomerate, has joined forces with the Concordium Foundation, unveiling a collaboration that centers on a state-of-the-art biometric crypto wallet.Photo by Nuno Antunes on UnsplashAlternative approach to securing cryptoAnnounced on Tuesday by the Concordium Foundation, a Swiss-based development team behind the Concordium layer one blockchain, this “proof of technology” initiative has the potential to fundamentally change how users access and secure their cryptocurrency accounts.Breaking away from traditional methods, the proposed biometric crypto wallet leverages users’ fingerprints or facial scans to generate a set of seed words, eliminating the need for users to store or remember them. This novel approach simplifies the restoration process, allowing users to recover their accounts with a mere biometric scan.Improving UXIf crypto and Web3 are to be adopted by ordinary people en-masse, user experience has long been identified within the sector as an area that still requires development. Making users responsible for the storage of a private key is fraught with difficulty, given the likelihood of private keys being lost or compromised.Various approaches are being taken to solve this issue. Tangem Wallet is one such alternative that utilizes near-field communication (NFC) in combination with an app and a card with an inbuilt chip, negating the need for the user to memorize a private key. This biometric-centered approach from Hitachi and Concordium represents another user-friendly approach to the problem of user authentication, harnessing the power of Hitachi’s Public Biometric Infrastructure (PBI) and Concordium’s self-sovereign identity framework. The result is an account creation process based entirely on biometric data, enhancing both security and user convenience.Complementary technologyConcordium’s network, with its stringent ID process for account creation to combat malicious activities, stands to gain substantial benefits from this technology. The biometric wallet will fortify users’ access to their IDs, a critical aspect of network security. Moreover, the technology’s applicability extends beyond Concordium, offering potential integration with any blockchain network.Users of the biometric wallet will have the flexibility to unlock their accounts either by regenerating seed words through a biometric scan or by decrypting a copy of the seed words. This dual-layered approach ensures that access is granted solely through the user’s unique biometric data, enhancing security and mitigating the risk of loss or theft.Developing this cutting-edge technology poses challenges, particularly in handling the inherent “fuzziness” of biometric data, where no two scans produce identical results, even from the same individual. Hitachi’s team addressed this by employing fuzzy key generation and specialized error correction technology, effectively distinguishing between scans.Unlike traditional crypto wallets that necessitate secure storage of seed words, the biometric wallet by Hitachi and Concordium, alongside solutions like multiparty-computation wallets and magic links, aims to overcome this hurdle. The goal is to resolve the issue of lost backup, a significant barrier to wider crypto adoption. This is not Hitachi’s first foray into the crypto/blockchain space. In mid-November the company announced a collaboration with the Japan Exchange Group (JPX), banking giant Nomura and Nomura portfolio company BOOSTRY to launch a $69 million digital green bond on the blockchain. In October Hitachi joined a consortium of Japanese companies with a view towards developing decentralized identity technology.

DigiFT launches RWA depository receipt tokens

DigiFT, a Singapore-based regulated exchange for real-world assets (RWAs), has brought its latest product offering to the digital asset market by introducing its U.S. Treasury bill depository receipt (DR) tokens. These tokens offer investors fractional ownership in U.S. Treasury bills, providing an avenue to engage with the traditionally secure U.S. debt market without requiring significant upfront capital, as detailed in a press release issued by the company on Monday.Photo by Karolina Grabowska on PexelsDemocratizing market accessThe conventional route to investing in U.S. Treasury bills typically demands substantial financial resources. DigiFT's DR tokens aim to democratize access to this market by enabling investors to purchase fractional shares of these bills. Henry Zhang, the founder and CEO of DigiFT, highlighted the innovative nature of the DR structure, noting its capacity to address challenges within the current market and empower investors with direct ownership of assets and returns. Zhang emphasized the company's intent to expand the scope of traditional financial assets in the Web3 space, leveraging the DR model to enhance investor protection and transparency. The DigiFT U.S. Treasury Tokens (DRUST) represent the inaugural offering in a series under the DR structure. These DR tokens, a type of security token, offer fractional ownership of an underlying asset. In the case of DigiFT, these tokens are specifically backed by U.S. Treasury bills, providing investors with exposure to the secure US debt market. Each DRUST token is directly backed by AA+ rated, highly liquid and short-term U.S. Treasury Bills, offering stability and tailor-made solutions for stablecoin issuers and Web3 product developers seeking regulatory-compliant treasury and cash management options. Pursuing regulatory complianceIn its latest announcement DigiFT has outlined its intention to pursue regulatory compliance, a facet intended to instill confidence and assurance among investors. Having been established in 2021 and previously operating within the Monetary Authority of Singapore's (MAS) FinTech Regulatory Sandbox, DigiFT obtained a Capital Markets Services (CMS) license and was acknowledged as a Recognised Market Operator (RMO) in December 2023. By adhering to regulations, DigiFT aims to simplify the investment process and broaden accessibility for investors. DigiFT highlights that institutional and accredited investors can access DRUST tokens from authorized self-custodial wallets using fiat currency or stablecoins, providing flexibility and convenience. Growing popularityThe growing popularity of tokenized funds, particularly those tied to U.S. treasuries, is evident in recent reports. Moody’s revealed a surge in the value of tokenized funds, driven by the increasing tokenization of U.S. treasuries. Both public and private blockchains are witnessing the inclusion of various assets, reflecting a broader trend toward asset tokenization. Tokenized funds offer numerous benefits, including enhanced liquidity, accessibility, reduced costs, fractionalization, decreased reliance on intermediaries, shortened settlement times, automated processes through smart contracts and improved transparency. Last June, Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency firm Finblox provided details of a tokenized version of U.S. Treasury Bills it has been working on. In November, the Bureau of the Treasury in the Philippines announced the issuance of one-year tokenized bonds to the value of $179 million. Binance Research has identified real-world asset tokenization as a key theme in crypto for 2024, noting its potential to improve transparency and efficiency by bringing off-chain assets onto blockchain networks.
