Mocaverse strikes up strategic alliance with Halo, KuCoin and OKX

Mocaverse, a membership-based NFT collection initiative enabled by Hong Kong’s Animoca Brands, revealed on Friday the establishment of strategic alliances with prominent Web3 wallets OKX Wallet, Crypto.com DeFi Wallet and Halo Wallet. In a separate announcement, it also revealed a similar partnership with crypto exchange platform KuCoin.

 

Extending Moca IDs to OKX, Crypto.com and Halo users

In a statement released by Animoca Brands, it was highlighted that through the deployment of its recently introduced decentralized identity (DID) Moca ID, Mocaverse is set to catalyze user expansion by integrating with the aforementioned leading self-custodial wallets.

 

The statement clarified that Moca ID will act as the conduit for users to seamlessly navigate various Web3 cultural experiences, spanning PointFi, GameFi and SocialFi, thereby simplifying the onboarding process into the Mocaverse ecosystem.

 

The collaboration will mean that users of OKX Wallet, Crypto.com DeFi Wallet and Halo Wallet will soon have the opportunity to claim their unique Moca IDs within the app, thereby gaining entry into the Mocaverse ecosystem and unlocking access to a myriad of rewarding cultural and entertainment experiences.

Realm Points incentive

Holders of Moca ID stand to accrue Realm Points through active participation and engagement within partner ecosystems and experiences, with the ability to redeem these points for exclusive real-life benefits and rewards provided by Mocaverse and Animoca Brands. Commenting on the development, Kenneth Shek, project lead at Mocaverse, stated:

“This partnership encompasses the values and mission we set out when we envisioned Moca ID, which is to make interoperability a new standard to onboard new users and redefine the Web3 network effect through the Mocaverse Partner Network.”

Mocaverse seeks to unify Animoca's portfolio projects, subsidiaries, joint ventures and partners through a distinctive NFT collection. With 8,888 Mocas as NFT profile pictures (PFPs), Mocaverse serves as a membership pass for Animoca Brands team members, investors, partners and select token holders, aspiring to foster community cohesion and collaboration within the Web3 sphere.

 

Jason Lau, chief innovation officer of OKX, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting OKX Wallet's role as a premier gateway to explore the burgeoning realm of Web3 gaming, culture and entertainment experiences.

 

Likewise, Eric Anziani, president and chief operating officer of Crypto.com, underscored the commitment of Crypto.com DeFi Wallet to democratizing access to the realms of DeFi and Web3 for all users, stating the partnership with Mocaverse would extend these experiences to a broader audience.

 

Additional announcement

In a separate announcement, Mocaverse unveiled a similar partnership with cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin alongside Halo Wallet. The initiative endeavors to address the challenge of accessing benefits across distinct Web3 sub-ecosystems by establishing cross-platform identity links, ultimately enhancing the user experience and fostering greater collaboration and integration across partner offerings.

Halo Wallet CEO Jeff Hou shared his thoughts on the collaboration, stating:

“The partnership among Halo, KuCoin, and Mocaverse is more than just a fusion of services; it represents a strategic alliance to create a cohesive digital asset environment for our users. The initiation of this exceptional cross-platform alliance is a move that promises to bring together the best of what each party has to offer.”

This would have resulted from their inability to distribute these tokens to the market after the speculative bubble burst. The center believes these reported values could have been influenced by the issuers’ market-making activities, possibly inflating their worth.According to the National Tax Service, Korean individuals and corporations hold a total of KRW 130.8 trillion (around $98 billion) in overseas crypto accounts. Notably, 73% (KRW 120 trillion) of this sum is held by 73 corporate entities.Highlighting a critical aspect of cryptocurrency valuation, the Korbit Research Center pointed out that when tokens are priced based on market-making activities, they may be overvalued. They further underscored that even if the true value of overseas holdings by these entities is only a tenth of the reported sum, a figure like KRW 12 trillion is still substantial.Retail investors seeking overseas optionsFurthermore, the center touched on retail investors, noting that the KRW 10 trillion in their offshore accounts indicates a gap in services offered by Korean crypto enterprises. It suggests that individual investors might be exploring foreign markets due to domestic limitations like the absence of derivatives and lending options.Given the borderless nature of the crypto industry, Korean individuals readily turn to overseas services that cater to their needs. The Korbit Research Center estimates a KRW 10 trillion unmet demand in the domestic crypto sector, suggesting that stringent local regulations might be driving capital outflows.

Nissan delves into metaverse on a heritage and safety theme

On March 7, Nissan Motor Co. introduced an innovative metaverse experience titled the "Heritage Cars & Safe Drive Studio," blending elements of automotive history with interactive safety education.Photo by Matthijs Waanders on UnsplashMarking 90 years in businessThe studio, launched to commemorate Nissan's 90th anniversary, features three iconic models from the company's past, recreated in virtual environments to reflect their respective eras. Among the showcased vehicles is the Silvia Q’s S13, renowned globally for its role in drifting culture. Users can explore this historic car from the 1980s while learning about the influence of pedestrian clothing colors on driver visibility. In another exhibit, users engage in a mini-game designed to educate on driver field-of-view and the impact of multitasking on safety. Alongside, the Skyline 2000GTX-E, famous for its presence in popular media like the Gran Turismo video game series and Fast and Furious movies, adds a touch of nostalgia and excitement, transporting users to the 1970s era. In a 1950s and 60s American diner and drive-in theater setting, the final exhibit offers a hands-on steering wheel spin exercise. These experiences aim to merge Nissan's heritage with vital safety knowledge, such as understanding the significance of pedestrian attire and the dangers of distracted driving. Developed in collaboration with Japanese university researchers, these immersive experiences are accessible through Meta Quest headsets, marking Nissan's continued exploration of virtual and augmented reality for customer engagement and education. Previous forays into the metaverseThis initiative aligns with Nissan's ongoing efforts to enhance its presence in the metaverse. It’s not the carmaker's first rodeo where the metaverse is concerned. It introduced its first virtual test drive and a virtual unveiling of its Sakura model in 2022. That same year, the company suggested it was interested in providing more in the way of virtual events, even going as far as to suggest the development of virtual customer support offices for clients. It followed that up in December 2023 with a revamp of four existing metaverse worlds, a project that also formed part of its 90th-anniversary celebrations. Nissan's latest foray into the metaverse coincides with advancements in augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) hardware. The recent launch of Apple's inaugural mixed-reality headset in February 2024 signals intensified competition among tech giants like Meta and Microsoft, who have been gradually expanding into consumer and enterprise AR/VR markets over the past decade. Broader auto industry interestNissan isn’t alone in the auto industry in taking initial steps into the metaverse. Rival Toyota has taken a different approach, pursuing an interest in creating remote workspaces for staff so that meetings can be held in the metaverse. Hyundai experimented with entering the metaverse as early as 2021. Through a partnership with Naver Z, the company offered virtual test drives of its Sonata model. Meanwhile Renault Korea has tipped its toes in the metaverse by offering consumers the ability to custom-build virtual cars on a metaverse platform. Through these metaverse updates, Nissan aims to stay at the forefront of automotive innovation, utilizing immersive experiences to engage customers and promote safety awareness in an increasingly digital world.
