Partnership initiatives as global expansion

Their NFT initiative, operated by the group’s marketing arm Daehong, is based on Bellygom, the pink bear character representing Lotte Homeshopping. As part of its global strategy, the Bellygom NFT project has formed partnerships with various international projects and has been actively involved in communication efforts. Notably, Bellygom’s X (formerly Twitter) account, created earlier this year, has attracted 100,000 followers within a span of five months.

At the end of last month, Daehong successfully completed the minting of Bellyland, the second NFT collection of the Bellygom project. The minting event was accompanied by Jelly Adventure, a universe where users can participate in a wide range of missions and games to earn “Bubble Gums.” Notably, Jelly Adventure is not only accessible to Bellyland NFT holders but also to those of other projects such as YogaPetz and Mocaverse.

It’s worth highlighting that the minting event achieved the sale of over 5,000 NFTs, even during a period of reduced activity in the NFT market. Despite the declining minting prices and quantities, it managed to raise over 750,000 MATIC.

Joining of new international users

Additionally, the minting event attracted new international users to the Bellygom project, underlining its sustainability. The successful debut of Bellyland NFTs has significantly contributed to the project’s global expansion and presence.

Furthermore, Daehong is pursuing a range of initiatives aimed at cultivating a fan-centric ecosystem with the ultimate objective of driving broader adoption of Web3 technologies. With the belief that the fanbase provides a strong foothold for the brand’s growth, the marketing firm plays a crucial role in facilitating the introduction of the Bellygom brand to the Web3 space. To this end, Daehong is constructing a universe with a story that embodies the brand’s identity while seamlessly integrating it with conventional marketing strategies.

India’s WazirX Partners with TaxNodes to Simplify Taxes

India’s WazirX Partners with TaxNodes to Simplify TaxesIndia’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, WazirX, has integrated with TaxNodes to enable platform users to calculate and file their crypto-taxes with greater ease.TaxNodes is a platform that provides users with the ability to calculate taxes on their cryptocurrency transactions. The start-up company has built a product for the retail crypto investor and trader that’s accessible on a global basis.Photo by Julian Yu on UnsplashEase of calculationThrough the partnership, TaxNodes will enable WazirXs expansive user base to calculate and file taxes on their crypto trades and crypto investments accurately. Furthermore, it will extend its service to provide updates on any developments in Indian taxation relative to the digital assets sector.Avinash Shekhar, Founder and CEO of TaxNodes, commented on the partnership: “We are looking forward to embarking on a journey with WazirX. We believe that our solutions will help WazirX’s customer base get clarity on the taxes levied on their investment. We think that our users will be able to leverage our plans to not only compute but also file their taxes, thereby, enabling us to simplify the taxation journey of crypto investors in the country.”From its perspective, Rajagopal Menon, Vice President at WazirX, said that the company has always prioritized compliance with regulations in the country to set an example of fair practice in the virtual digital asset industry. The partnership between WazirX and TaxNodes will be beneficial in enabling an ecosystem of regulatory abidance and mainstream adoption of crypto without the challenges of tax miscalculation or default.”High taxesIndia has chopped and changed its position on digital assets many times, and its tax treatment of cryptocurrencies has also undergone changes in tandem with that. Currently, Indian investors who trade digital assets, inclusive of NFTs, are under the obligation to declare their income if the assets are held as investments.Income tax return (ITR) forms for the 2022–2023 tax year have been amended to include a section dedicated to digital assets. A section called “Schedule — Virtual Digital Assets (VDA)” is now included. Income from the sale of virtual assets is currently taxed in India at a rate of 30%. One inequitable feature of the Indian crypto tax treatment is the fact that losses incurred from digital assets cannot be offset against other income.Additional taxes are to be applied in the form of tax deducted at source (TDS) of 1%, applicable on all sell transactions of digital assets and NFTs. That measure was first applied as of July 1, 2022. The world’s largest democracy has taken a very repressive stance in taxing digital assets, and added to that, non-compliance in the case of TDS can be sanctioned by way of a fine or jail time. With those high stakes, it’s appropriate that service providers like TaxNodes are collaborating with Indian crypto exchanges like WazirX. Crypto market participants can’t afford to miscalculate their taxes given the sanctions that could potentially be applied.

Korean FSS Governor meets U.S. SEC Chair Gensler to cooperate on crypto regulations

The governor of South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) met with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Gary Gensler, according to Korean media outlet Newsis. The meeting took place during FSS Governor Lee Bok-hyun's business trip to the U.S. The meeting with the SEC chair was pre-arranged earlier this year, as previously reported by crypto media CoinNess.  Governor Lee reportedly had high-ranking meetings with officials from the SEC and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) between May 14 and May 16. Photo by Daniel Bernard on UnsplashDuring his meeting with the SEC chair, Governor Lee discussed various financial and cryptocurrency regulatory issues including the recent approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs, and reaffirmed the need for close cooperation between two countries in such oversight efforts. In particular, the two regulators came to an agreement to reinforce cooperation in investigation into unfair trading practices associated with securities and virtual assets. He also met with CFTC Chairman Rostin Behnam to share the recent trends regarding virtual asset legislation in the U.S. and agreed to strengthen information sharing between the two countries. The details of the meeting agendas remain confidential, as mutually agreed upon by the two supervisory organizations.   International financial regulatory cooperation Governor Lee’s latest meetings with U.S. financial regulators followed his attendance at the meeting for the Group of Central Bank Governors and Heads of Supervision (GHOS) held in Basel, Switzerland, on May 13. The GHOS is the oversight body of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS).  During the GHOS meeting, participants reached a consensus on the urgency of swiftly implementing Basel III, a set of bank regulation standards. Two-thirds of member countries are set to partially or completely adopt Basel III by the end of this year.  Furthermore, the member countries agreed to postpone the implementation of the Prudential Treatment of Banks' Exposures to Cryptoassets to Jan.1, 2026, considering the regulatory framework is currently under amendment.
