Technological validation for STO projects

AIITONE’s security token offering (STO) PoC platform serves to conceptually validate technological aspects before the implementation of specific projects. This solution validates business concepts by enabling a systematic connection among various entities, including security token issuers, account management institutions (issuance intermediaries), the total supply management institution (the Korea Securities Depository), investors, securities companies, over-the-counter (OTC) brokerages, and financial companies.

Through this platform, AIITONE’s clients will have the capability to conduct PoC studies for both primary and secondary markets. Businesses with an interest in security token operations can test in advance the entire lifecycle of an STO. This encompasses activities such as security token assessment, subscription, allocation, issuance, distribution, and eventual burn. Assessing technical requirements prior to embarking on a security token project is expected to not only save time but also mitigate risks.

Versatile support for industry players

According to an AIITONE official, the firm’s STO PoC platform is highly effective, considering it offers a wide range of support, spanning from security token product planning to networking assistance for platform and infrastructure development. The official also expressed their expectations that the platform’s versatility is poised to attract many securities and financial companies as potential customers.

Meanwhile, AIITONE aims to offer a comprehensive STO solution encompassing a range of features, such as STO PoC consulting, industry trend assessment, and risk management capabilities.

Blockchain Tech Enhances Korean Meat Industry’s Trading System

Blockchain Tech Enhances Korean Meat Industry’s Trading SystemThe Korean meat industry is leveraging blockchain technology to optimize its meat trading system.©Pexels/mali maederOn Tuesday, the MOOxMOO Foundation, a Korean blockchain-driven supply chain management provider, announced its strategic partnership with meat processing company PMD, according to the Maeil Business Newspaper.Inefficient distributionThe partnership aims to enhance the transparency of the meat trading system and address issues of inefficient intermediary distribution, particularly regarding payments, settlements, and deliveries. This goal will be achieved through the foundation’s meat trading platform MOOxDEAL, which will utilize soulbound tokens (SBTs) to verify identities of supply chain participants.Rising meat demandThe OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2022–2031 stated that in 2021, world meat imports are estimated to have reached 40 million metric tons (Mt), with poultry imports leading the way. Brazil, the European Union and the United States were among the top meat exporting countries, meeting a significant portion of the increased import demand.Meat consumption is projected to grow by 15% by 2031, driven by an expected 11% increase in the global population. Global meat supply is projected to reach 377 Mt by 2031, though growth will not be as rapid as the previous decade. The amount of protein available from poultry, pork, and beef is expected to increase globally by 16%, 17%, and 8%, respectively, by 2031, with poultry being the main contributor to overall meat production growth. The majority of meat production growth is set to occur in developing regions.Costs onto consumersDespite increasing global meat production, the unsuitable distribution structure in Korea may shift costs onto consumers.Through the partnership, the MOOxMOO Foundation looks forward to addressing the inefficiencies of intermediary distribution and benefiting consumers. The foundation also envisions its platform contributing to the Korean meat industry by optimizing both business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) trading.

India’s RBI Collaborates Internationally on Digital Rupee Payments

India’s RBI Collaborates Internationally on Digital Rupee PaymentsIndia’s Reserve Bank (RBI) is expanding its exploration of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) by focusing on cross-border functionality, despite its cautious approach to CBDC development. The RBI aims to experiment with various use cases for CBDCs in international payments, as it believes this can enhance the efficiency of cross-border transactions. That’s according to a report which was recently published by local media source, the Economic Times. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das emphasized the potential benefits of quicker, seamless, and cost-effective cross-border payments. The RBI is actively engaging in dialogue with other central banks that have already implemented or are planning to introduce CBDCs.Photo by rupixen.com on UnsplashUAE collaborationIn collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the RBI is promoting joint studies on using CBDCs for settling international payments. The partnership is driven by the high volume of remittances between the two countries, a consequence of the large number of Indian migrants in the UAE.These recent developments follow the RBI’s retail and wholesale CBDC pilot programs, which began just seven months ago. Although the retail pilot attracted 50,000 users within 60 days, the RBI remains committed to a gradual and cautious approach to mitigate potential risks.Onboarding one million CBDC usersWhile expanding the pilot program to new cities, the RBI aims to onboard one million CBDC users within the coming weeks, despite the digital rupee currently having a very low circulation level. On the wholesale side, the RBI’s pilot has shown promising results, with the digital rupee being explored for government bond transactions, money market funds, and short-term lending.RBI Deputy Governor T. Rabi Sankar emphasized the importance of exploring multiple use cases for CBDCs, including account-based CBDCs. The RBI aims to offer as many applications for CBDCs as possible while ensuring the existing National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) and other systems are not disrupted.Global surge in CBDC developmentThe surge in CBDC development worldwide can be attributed to various factors. The imposition of sanctions on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine led to a significant increase in wholesale CBDC initiatives as Russia sought alternatives to bypass the sanctions.Additionally, the diminishing use of cash and the rise of dollarization and cryptocurrency adoption in local economies have motivated over 120 central banks to initiate CBDC research. These central banks are attracted by the potential benefits of financial inclusion and the opportunity to address the decline in cash usage.India has been selective in terms of the aspects of digital asset technology it wants to see further developed within its borders. At a recent conference organized by the RBI, a central bank official called on Indian banks to adopt blockchain technology. When it comes to stablecoins, the central bank is apprehensive, warning of associated risks while calling for global regulation. As India’s RBI continues its CBDC exploration, the focus on cross-border functionality underscores the growing recognition of CBDCs as a transformative tool for international payments. The ongoing collaborations and pilots demonstrate India’s level of interest in staying at the forefront of CBDC development while taking measured steps to ensure a secure and efficient transition to digital currency.

This move is part of Metalpha's broader effort to bridge the gap between traditional finance (TradFi) and the crypto sphere.Photo by cottonbro studio on PexelsBuilding on Next Generation FundNews of the collaboration broke via a PR Newswire press release published by Metalpha on Monday. The deal builds upon a previous partnership struck by the two companies in April of last year, which resulted in the creation of Next Generation Fund I. This fund is specifically tailored to leverage Grayscale Investments LLC's suite of products, with Grayscale being one of the world’s largest crypto asset managers. Notably, the fund has demonstrated solid performance, surpassing bitcoin's annualized return by 35%. This success has instilled confidence in Metalpha, fostering optimism for the fund's future achievements. NextGen Digital is a Hong Kong-based investment company that aims to provide cryptocurrency and Web3 exposure to institutional clients in the conventional finance realm. Alongside its previous partnership with Metalpha, the firm has invested directly in Web3 startups such as iZumi Finance, a liquidity-as-a-service DeFi protocol. In announcing the Metalpha investment, NextGen founding partner Jason Huang said that the company “is committed to providing secure, compliant cryptocurrency investment opportunities and is always focused on achieving alpha returns.” The company is leveraging its Hong Kong Type 9 license, while aspiring to deliver secure and compliant cryptocurrency investment opportunities. Adrian Wang, president and director of Metalpha Technology Holding, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating: "The launch of the NextGen fund marks the first step for both parties to jointly develop compliant products with generous returns. We look forward to establishing a more solid partnership in the future.” Wang had previously stated that clients of the Next Generation Fund were overseas Chinese institutions. “Some of them are family offices, some of them are public companies,” he stated. On-boarding TradFi investmentPositioned as a notable platform in Asia, NextGen aims to facilitate traditional finance's seamless entry into the realm of cryptocurrencies. This strategic investment by Metalpha underscores the evolving landscape where traditional financial institutions increasingly embrace the potential of digital assets. Metalpha, recognized as one of Asia's leading providers of crypto derivatives solutions, collaborates closely with traditional financial entities, including family offices and crypto mining firms. Holding both Type 4 and Type 9 licenses from the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong, Metalpha is authorized to advise on securities and engage in real estate investment scheme management or securities and futures contracts management. In May of last year, Metalpha secured a $5 million investment from leading crypto mining equipment manufacturer, Bitmain. Metalpha counts hybrid crypto exchange GRVT among its portfolio of investments. In September it emerged that it had invested in ParaX, a Web3 super app developed by Parallel Finance. In February 2023, the Litecoin Foundation partnered with Metalpha in an effort to provide environmentally friendly mining techniques to the Litecoin ecosystem.
