Ex-Drift exec: DeFi must mature on security for mainstream adoption

April 09, 2026, 7:40 PM
Ann Irvina Ravinther, the former head of marketing at Drift Labs, said the recent hack of the protocol shows that DeFi still has a long way to go in terms of security. In an interview with DL News, she stated that this security gap will make it difficult for DeFi to be accepted by traditional financial markets. Ravinther emphasized the need to rebuild trust, noting that while crypto and DeFi professionals might accept such incidents as part of the industry's development, the sector must mature before it can attract mainstream investors, adding that this is unfortunately not the case at present. Ravinther, who left Drift Labs in February, reportedly lost $76,000 worth of cryptocurrency in the hack. It is not known whether her funds have been recovered.
