Bitcoin transaction fees fall 69% year-over-year

Bitcoin transaction fees have recently plummeted, CryptoSlate reported. As of April 8, daily BTC transaction fees stood at 2.443 BTC, a 69% decrease year-over-year, with the average fee per block at only about $0.33. Given the current block reward of 3.125 BTC and the generation of roughly 144 blocks per day, these fees now constitute less than 0.5% of total miner revenue.
