April 21, 2026, 8:14 PM
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on April 21 that he is suspending military action against Iran and extending a ceasefire, acceding to a request from Pakistan's Army Chief of Staff and Prime Minister. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump demanded that Iran first present a unified negotiation proposal. He stressed that during the ceasefire, the U.S. military will continue its naval blockade of Iran and maintain military readiness. Trump added that the ceasefire will last until Iran submits its proposal and negotiations are complete, "regardless of the outcome."
