Hana Financial Group and Dunamu recently held a private meeting attended by senior executives from both sides and shared a joint vision for collaboration that goes beyond a simple equity investment or a partnership on won deposit and withdrawal accounts to help reshape the future of finance.
According to Yonhap News, the meeting was attended by top officials including Hana Financial Chairman Ham Young-joo, Vice Chairman Lee Eun-hyung, and Dunamu Vice Chairman Kim Hyung-nyeon. Under the theme, 'Time together, future together, opening the future of digital finance together,' the participants discussed the significance of their strategic alliance and reaffirmed their commitment to stronger cooperation. Before the meeting, the two sides had also formed a consensus on expanding cooperation into areas including won-based stablecoins, security tokens, and real-world asset tokenization.
Earlier, Hana Bank unexpectedly announced in May it would acquire a stake of around 1 trillion won ($720 million) in Dunamu, the operator of South Korean crypto exchange Upbit. That made Hana Bank Dunamu's fourth-largest shareholder with a 6.6% stake.
