Japan may launch its first spot Bitcoin ETF as early as 2028, Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported. After a bill defining cryptocurrencies as financial products was enacted into law on July 15, Japan’s Financial Services Agency is preparing to revise rules related to investment trusts. Major asset managers are now reviewing ETF launches, and some projections suggest Japanese Bitcoin ETFs could attract as much as 3 trillion yen ($20.3 billion) by March 2029, the end of fiscal 2028.
