Tiger Research says AI agent wallets target future payments market

July 27, 2026, 9:17 AM
Tiger Research, an Asia-based Web3 research and consulting firm, said in a report that competition over AI agent wallets is aimed less at immediate profits and more at securing an early lead in the future AI payments market. Tiger Research said AI would need dedicated wallets capable of repeatedly processing micropayments and automatically transferring funds based on preset conditions if it is to purchase goods and information on behalf of people. The firm analyzed that major crypto companies including Coinbase and Binance are developing wallets for AI use, and Coinbase’s revenue could expand to about seven times its current level if AI agent adoption takes off in earnest. It added that accumulated payment records in such wallets could be used to assess the profitability of AI agents and expand into financial services such as lending. Still, the firm noted that payment errors by AI, differences in regulations across countries and companies, and unclear legal liability remain major challenges.
