The Korea Exchange triggered a circuit breaker after the Kospi fell more than 8%. A circuit breaker is a mechanism that temporarily halts trading when the Kospi or Kosdaq drops sharply, with three stages in total. Under a first-stage circuit breaker, which is triggered when a decline of at least 8% lasts for one minute, trading is suspended for about 20 minutes.
