Dragonfly’s Haseeb says crypto made today’s AI boom possible

Dragonfly Managing Partner Haseeb said today’s AI boom would likely not have been possible without cryptocurrency. Haseeb said the claim may sound strange but is close to the truth, arguing that the buildout of data centers powering AI today would have been impossible without the expertise developed by Bitcoin miners. Haseeb added Nvidia also might not have been able to move beyond gaming into specialized computing chips without using the crypto mining industry as a bridge, and said many of the world’s largest neocloud providers, or AI-focused cloud companies, started out in crypto mining.
