On-chain message offers laundering services for stolen Coldcard Bitcoin

An on-chain message has surfaced offering to launder Bitcoin stolen through an entropy flaw in Coinkite’s Coldcard hardware wallets, help evade know-your-customer checks, and cash out the funds in exchange for a 10% fee, Bitcoin.com reported. The theft linked to the random-number-generation flaw has now exceeded 1,359.88 BTC. Industry participants are watching whether the message is a genuine offer from a criminal group or a trap set by investigators or security experts to lure the hacker.
Meanwhile, an emergency firmware patch released by Coinkite to fix the random-number-generation flaw is causing further confusion. Users who installed it have increasingly reported that devices including the Mk4, Q and Mk3 are freezing on error screens or failing to boot entirely, leaving them bricked.
