Elizabeth Warren backs crypto bills in principle, opposes current CLARITY Act

U.S. Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a longtime crypto skeptic, said she supports crypto legislation in principle but opposes the current CLARITY Act, according to CoinDesk. In an interview with Forbes cited by CoinDesk, Warren said the CLARITY Act does not address issues related to corruption, consumer protection, national security and economic safeguards, and added she does not expect either Republicans or Democrats to move the bill forward until those issues are resolved. The U.S. Senate did not include CLARITY Act-related provisions on its Aug. 6 agenda, and the bill has not yet secured the 60 votes needed for passage, with disagreements between Republicans and Democrats over its details continuing.
