Major cryptocurrencies traded lower ahead of the U.S. consumer price index report as inflation concerns resurfaced following a sharp rise in oil prices, with ETH and XRP leading the decline, CoinDesk reported.
ETH fell more than 2% to $1,878, while XRP dropped about 2% to $1.01, marking the steepest losses among major tokens. BTC, meanwhile, slipped back toward $64,000 after failing for a fourth straight day to hold above $65,000. Market experts said selling pressure has not intensified, and added that whether BTC can break above $70,000, where its 200-day moving average sits, will be a key turning point for market sentiment.
