U.S. nonprofit think tank Bitcoin Policy Institute has urged AI companies to give Bitcoin Core developers and other open-source financial infrastructure security teams early access to the latest AI models.
In an open letter released on Aug. 10, local time, the institute said cutting-edge AI models can identify vulnerabilities in large code bases and handle complex security tasks quickly, but Bitcoin Core developers and other open-source developers often struggle to access AI companies’ cybersecurity programs, while security research is frequently limited on public models. It called on AI companies to create security programs that provide pre-release access to the latest models and sufficient computing resources. The institute added that as attacks using high-performance AI increase, the burden on small open-source development teams is growing. Coinbase, Strategy and Kraken signed the open letter.
