U.S. SEC further delays tokenization innovation exemption

August 13, 2026, 7:05 PM
The U.S. SEC has further delayed its innovation exemption tied to tokenization, according to Crypto in America host Eleanor Terrett. Terrett said details of the measure were unlikely to be disclosed for the time being, explaining that discussions and coordination among stakeholders were continuing over Section 10505, the tokenization-related provision of the CLARITY Act. Terrett added that concerns had emerged that an independent move by the SEC could undermine a hard-won consensus around that provision. The delay suggests the measure could remain on hold until a clearer direction emerges for the CLARITY Act. Meanwhile, a public meeting on new rules and exemptions for crypto-related fundraising transactions, known as Regulation Crypto Assets, is still scheduled to go ahead today, according to the report.
