Goldman Sachs says odds of September Fed rate hike are very low, positive for Bitcoin

August 17, 2026, 10:28 AM
Goldman Sachs said weakening U.S. retail sales and employment data, along with easing inflation, make a Federal Reserve rate hike in September highly unlikely, a view that could support Bitcoin and other risk assets. Jan Hatzius, Goldman Sachs’ chief economist, said inflation is more likely to improve further than to worsen again over the rest of the year. The analysis said easing concerns over additional rate hikes could improve market liquidity conditions, which may act as a positive for risk assets including Bitcoin. BTC was trading at around $63,500 and has fluctuated between $62,000 and $66,000 since early July.
