Ethereum delays Glamsterdam upgrade to late 2026, begins reviewing Hegotá roadmap

Ethereum developers have pushed back the target timing for the next mainnet upgrade, Glamsterdam, to the fourth quarter of 2026 from the first half of 2026 and have begun defining the scope of the follow-up upgrade, Hegotá, CryptoSlate reported.
The developers have launched Platåberget, Glamsterdam’s public testnet, and plan to expand testing to the Sepolia and Hoodi testnets after several months of testing. Ethereum core developers are also reviewing 66 Ethereum Improvement Proposals, or EIPs, currently proposed for Hegotá and plan to finalize the priority candidates by the end of this month. Hegotá could include faster block production, higher Layer 1 throughput, stronger censorship resistance, and improved privacy features, although many proposals are likely to be excluded or deferred to a later upgrade as developers weigh the timeline and development schedule.
