Injective says chain was upgraded, not halted, and funds remain safe

September 01, 2026, 2:44 PM
Injective said via its official X account that its blockchain was upgraded rather than halted, and that INJ assets, user funds and staked funds remain safe. Injective said a drop in staked volume was linked to delays in validator upgrades. The project added that the Injective blockchain and INJ remained secure throughout the upgrade process, with the core protocol and consensus mechanism unaffected, while the chain continued processing transactions. It also said the upgrade followed an exploit affecting a small number of ecosystem applications operating binary options markets. According to Injective, the attack was limited to those applications and did not exploit the Injective blockchain, protocol, native asset or consensus mechanism. It added that the relevant attack vector has already been blocked and patched, and stressed that descriptions of the incident as an Injective blockchain vulnerability or outage are inaccurate.
