Arthur Hayes unveils FLOP blockchain for AI agents, with full token supply set for airdrop

September 07, 2026, 8:59 AM
BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes has released the yellow paper for FLOP, a blockchain project for AI agents. FLOP uses a proof-of-inference mechanism designed to let AI agents pay miners in FLOP tokens for AI inference tasks. Under the model, an AI agent submits a request to the mempool containing a model weight hash, maximum latency, compute volume and fees, after which a miner performs the inference task and returns a proof. Validators then include it in a block to complete settlement. FLOP’s initial supply is about 2.48 billion tokens, all of which will be allocated to an airdrop. Initial rewards are set to be distributed as 75% for miners, 10% for validators, 10% for AI agents and 5% for general stakers.
