Blockstream says Liquid bridge patch is complete, safe to return nearly 4,000 BTC

Blockstream, the developer of the Bitcoin sidechain Liquid, said the bridge node patch has been completed and the funds can now be safely returned after hackers who identified themselves as white hats stole 4,000 BTC, then worth about $320 million. The hackers had previously said they would return the stolen 4,000 BTC after confirming the vulnerability had been fixed and all nodes had been patched. Negotiations between the hackers and Blockstream were conducted publicly through OP_RETURN messages, and the hackers also sent Blockstream encrypted details about the vulnerability. The funds still held by the hackers were identified at about 3,998.5 BTC.
