Sweden’s tax agency has imposed about 540 million kronor ($56.5 million) in taxes and fines on six cryptocurrency mining companies in Boden, northern Sweden, BlockBeats reported.
According to the authorities’ investigation, the companies are accused of using complex corporate structures and special contracts to disguise their actual crypto mining business as ordinary data processing operations and improperly receive tax benefits available to data centers.
