Japan’s San-in Godo Bank weighs digital securities issuance with NTT Data

September 08, 2026, 5:49 AM
Japan’s San-in Godo Bank said it is formally reviewing a new fundraising model using digital securities with NTT Data and Securitize Japan. The bank is first considering a plan under which it would act as the issuer and issue and sell bond-type security tokens. If an actual issuance goes ahead, it would likely mark the first case of a Japanese regional bank directly issuing and selling bond-type security tokens. The three parties also plan to review ways to expand the model to regional companies and local governments, as well as to other regional banks using NTT Data’s shared system for regional banks. However, the project remains under review, and no final decision has been made on whether an issuance will proceed.
