Hunter Biden outlines LAPTOP token plan ahead of Base launch

Hunter Biden, the son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, addressed the purpose behind the LAPTOP memecoin launch for the first time on X, saying he had turned a symbol used to destroy him into one of recovery and resurgence. He said that if others had weaponized the laptop, he had turned it into a token. Biden said 20% of the total token supply will be airdropped to the community, including some users who lost money investing in Donald Trump’s TRUMP token. He added that 30% will either be permanently burned or donated to charities depending on whether predetermined real-world conditions are met, while a separate 50 million LAPTOP has also been allocated for charitable purposes. Biden said no one should expect him or anyone else to increase the token’s value. The LAPTOP token is set for an official launch on the Base network today. The laptop issue involving Hunter Biden emerged as a political scandal ahead of the 2020 U.S. presidential election and has continued to be referenced in U.S. politics and the cryptocurrency market as a prominent political meme.
